De Puch/Thonet

The elegence

It was a joint venture between the Puch bicycle factory and the furniture manufacturer Thonet. The bicycle was made of beech wood, which was clamped in moulds and bent into the desired shape when heated with steam. Thonet wanted to demonstrate its ability to produce a wooden bicycle with elegant curves. Given the enormous strength, it can be assumed that this was a road or track bicycle, suitable for high speeds. The bicycle was made to demonstrate a new type of chain that was developed by Puch in this version.
