'Indian Motobike', Hemdee MFG Co., Springfield (United States), 1916

This American bicycle from 1916 looks like a motorbike and its tank. However, the tank is not filled with petrol, but contains the battery for lighting. Other features are striking. The tyres are wider and there is a "bell" which does not ring but honks. Mountain bikes developed from these vehicles. In the 1970s, young people bought these bikes for off-roading, the wider tyres being very useful.
